Science Camp

(mandatory for membership/cords)

Science Camp is an annual event hosted by SNHS to foster a love of science in elementary students in our community. These students will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of fun experiments and demonstrations. 

2024 Science Camp will take place in the spring at The Woodlands College Park High School. The time and date will be announced closer to the event.

 

Activity Examples

  • Making goo

  • Water cycle

  • Melting Styrofoam with acetone

  • Making a vinegar volcano

  • Rockets with a launch pad

  • Making soda

  • Making ice cream

  • Carbonating strawberries

  • Paper airplanes

  • Lemon/Potato batteries

  • Filter paper and pipe cleaners

  • Boiling Ice Water

  • Dry Ice

  • Methane Bubbles

  • Egg Drop Experiment

  • Static Electricity (hair standing up)

  • Water refracting experiments

  • Ivory soap experiment

  • Elephant toothpaste 

  • Catapult for display                                                                  

  • Coke and Mentos                                                                      

  • Tie-dye

  • Milk and food coloring

Member Information

Points for Science Camp

  • 4 hours for the event 

  • 1 hour for each kid you get to sign up

 

Group Leaders: 

  • Will lead a group of 4-6 kids to different activities

  • 14 spots; first come first serve!

 

Activity Leaders

  • Perform a demonstration or guide the students through completing an experiment 

  • 2-4 leaders per activity

  • Create a poster to explain the experiment

Parent/Guardian Information

Parents or guardians who are interested in their child attending Science Camp should be aware of the following:

  • Sign-Up deadline: Announced in the spring

  • Kids are grouped together by age and grade (Although we allow children to request to be in a group together, we cannot not guarantee that the request will be granted)

  • Parents/Guardians must acknowledge that if there are any behavioral issues with their child, then they will be notified to pick them up. No refunds will be given.
